3699. Waller, W. A. Cameron-. Feb. 15. Tyres, pneumatic.-A detachable tyre-carrying rim d is locked in position by a removable side ring, which is fixed by giving the ring a circumferential movement. To the wheel a is fixed a ring b of angular cross-section. The ring carries a number of blocks c, the detachable rim d having a number of pairs of ears e adapted to engage these blocks. The side ring f for locking the rim has keyhole slots h, which engage headed studs g carried by the blocks c ; the ring f is locked in position by a set-screw i, entering one of the blocks c and passing through a web m connecting one pair of ears e. The valve and nuts for the tyre are housed in the closed chamber formed by the angle-ring b and the side ring f, but the valve may project through an opening in the felloe, or an opening in the ring f may allow of access to the valve. As an alternative to the angle-ring b, two removable side rings may be used.
