Felloes or rims.-Relates to circumferentiallysplit detachable tyre-carrying rims of the type in which the rim is prevented from creeping by the engagement of blocks secured to the interior of the rim with blocks fitted upon the periphery of the wheel. The locking-plates G, Fig. 3, are loosely pivoted on screws d' to one rim half, and studs d secured to the other rim half take into slots g. In other forms, the locking-plates are pivoted at d', Fig. 8, and grooves g<2>, g<2> co-operate with studs d to unite the halves. The driving- keys are secured to the fixed rim B, and take into the recesses left between the locking-plates. The engaging-surfaces of the rims, keys, and plates are coned for the whole or a portion only of their width. The detachable rim is secured by transverse bolts K provided with eccentric washers H. To prevent moisture from getting to the base of the tyre, an india-rubber washer c, Fig. 4, and a canvas strip c<1> are interposed between the security bolt heads N and the rim D. The heads N are provided with teeth which press into the edges of the tyre and prevent creeping. The tyre C may be secured in the rim as described in Specification No. 10,499, A.D. 1905, and the rim may be secured to the wheel by radial bolts, as described in Specification No. 11,206, A.D. 1908. Specification No. 15,499, A.D. 1907, describes one form of rim to which the invention is applicable.
