Abstract
19,938. Barnett, S. Sept. 7. [Cognate Application, 5811/12.] Tyre attachments to rims. -The rim parts a', a<2> have conical surfaces a<3>, a<4> to engage a split ring b on which the tyre is seated. The rim parts may be adjusted by transverse bolts c, or may have a bayonet or equivalent connexion which may be adjusted and locked by means of a taper bolt. The split hoop b may be formed with, or have secured thereto, a central dovetail rib or series of projections, and the edges of the hoop may be flanged to engage grooves in the rim parts. Fig. 2 shows a separate security device d formed with beads d<1> and having a central security plate d<2> which may be swivelled or otherwise adjustable. The detachable rim part may be split, with a turn-buckle connexion for the ends. The invention is applicable to rims having one part fixed to the wheel, or to detachable rims.
