The gun cradle B is trunnioned at b to the ends of a pair of arms B' trunnioned at b<1> to the trail D. The trough C is locked by catches H to brackets b<2> on the arms B' so that the gun and sights may be elevated, together with the arms B<1>, about the trunnion-axis b<1> by an elevating-gear G of ordinary construction. For loading, the catches H are released and the gun and cradle are swung about the trunnions b. The weight of the gun, sustained by the elevating-gear G, may be partly balanced by suitably arranged springs. A ratchet-device retains the gun in the loading position.
