Field carriages.-Relates to means for bring- ing a gun quickly to and from the loading elevation, and consists in forming the breech-block I integral with the recoiling-slide I<1> on which the gun A is trunnioned at B. A hand-lever D, pivoted at d to the slide I<1>, has a pin d<1> engaging a groove a in the breach end of the barrel A, whereby the barrel may be rocked from the firing to the loading elevation, the breech being opened at the same time and the extractor H operated, as shown in Fig. 3. The gun-barrel A has ribs C concentric with the trunnions B, which ribs engage corresponding parts J in the cradle I' and take the strain off the trunnions.
