Abstract
18,735. Schulze, F. A. Sept. 16. Slide-rules for powers and roots, graduated as shown, are provided wito a pointer Z which can be pivoted in a hole at either end of the main rule. The slide S carries transverse scales indicating the exponent, and the main rule a logarithmic scale, readings being taken against the pointer on both the slide and main rule as well as against the end of the slide on the main rule. The hole l<2> is used for the pointer when the number of which the power &c. is required is less than unity, the logarithmic scale then being read from the end backwards.
