Abstract
198. Bell, G. H. T. Jan. 3. Linear - dimension g a u g e s. - Calliper gauges are graduated to give direct readings of drill sizes, two sets of graduations C', C<2> and D<1>, D<2> being employed. The graduations C<2> , D<2> are equally spaced apart at distances of 0À03 and 0À05 inches respectively, and the others are arranged to indicate the drill size when similarly numbered or lettered graduations are coincident. Graduation of the scales C', D' is begun from the smallest sizes "60," and "A," the distances of the next marks being respectively 0À03 and 0À05 inches plus the difference between these drills, and so on. In addition, the gauge is adapted to read halfmillimetres and sixty-fourths of an inch, and is provided with a vernier G<1>, G<2> reading to thousandths of an inch.
