Abstract
15,498. Hamilton, W., and Ferranti, Ltd. July 28. Counting-apparatus.-The counting-trains of electricity meters and other measuring-apparatus in which a weight is raised during part of a revolution and allowed to fall suddenly, are modified by the addition of the continuously - rotating smaller weight which is arranged to descend while the operating-weight is ascending, to reduce the amount of variation in the driving force. The auxiliary weight j is fixed on the wheel a, which gears with the meter spindle and carries diametrically-arranged pins g, h to engage the arm of the operating-weight f, which is fixed to a disk on the same spindle. This disk bears a pin which actuates the sprocket-wheel 1, on the spindle of which is a disk 5 with a pin and slot to engage the teeth of a double sprocket-wheel on the next axis. The auxiliary weight is preferably half the falling weight.
