Moulding briquettes &c.-Material from a hopper 24 is fed by rotating wipers 25 into dies 23 in plates 20, which intermesh as shown at 22 to render the junctions flexible and form an endless chain. The plates have riveted to them, on either side, doubleflanged bars 21, which are acted on by pins 36 arranged in quadrature on drums carried on adjustable shafts 9, 14, 16 and so provide motion. The drums, Figs. 2 and 4, are preferably formed of two annular rings 41, 42, and carry formers 43 running on rollers 46 on a cam 37 having an adjustable projection 47. The material is first pressed from above only, against a table 55 carrying heating-coils 56, then compressed on both sides, and finally delivered by projections on the drum 19. The formers, Fig. 4, may be in pairs on the yoke 44, and are kept normally retracted by means of springs 45. Heating-fluid passes from the central shaft through openings 61 into a drum 51, thence through hollow rods 53 to openings 54 communicating with slots 60 in the formers.
