10,121. Burn, L., and Goskar, T. A. May 15. Gas or explosivevapour engines, carburetting in. An oil force pump d is combined with the carburettor and is worked mechanically or by the air suction acting on the disk g on the plunger f. The,oil may be sprayed through holes in. the plunger or its barrel into the mixing-chamber directly, or through a beat valve a<9> of adjustable lift; the oil enters at the intervals between the engine suction strokes. A gauze strainer cis secured in a cavity in the oil suction passage by the pipe union c<2>. The spraying- valve a<9> or the oil suction valve b, Fig. 1, is held closed by springs when the engine is at rest. The-inertia of the pump and air column serves to control the oil supply according to the load on the engine and therefore its speed, less oil entering as the speed increases under a light load. The speed may also be controlled by a handlever j which limits the movement of the disk.
