800. Maley, A. W., and Jackson, F. Jan. 16. Wealemefnas.-A map measurer for indicating the actual distance between points on maps drawn to various scales has an indicating - hand moving over concentric series of graduations 10 corresponding to the various scales, and is actuated from a small wheel which is rolled over the map. Another set of graduations may be placed at the back of the instrument; and a,stop pin 22 may also be provided which, when pressed, locks the mechanism for reading purposes. The Provisional Specification mentions the use of several dials on one side, and of several coloured pointers moving over the same dial. The scales may be metric, English, or other kinds.
