190,473. Etablissements Industriels J. Bignan. Dec. 17, 1921, [Convention date]. Cam gears; slide valves, piston.- Positive face-cam gear for controlling the valves of steam or other heat engines comprises a cam 3 rotating between a pair of rollers 4, 4<1> mounted on coaxial slides 5, 5<1> and pressed on to the cam by a spring 6. The slide 5 engages also between stops 8, 8<1> on the valve stem 9, a spring 11 being inserted between the slide and the stop 8. A similar arrangement of slides 5<a>, Fig. 2, may be provided for the second valve of the cylinder, and the two valves of a second cylinder may be actuated by a second cam 3<1>, Fig. 1, arranged at 180‹, and rotating in the opposite direction, to the cam 3. The two cams are shown driven by bevel-gear 13, 13<1>, 14. In modifications, the slides 5, 5' are coaxial with the valve stems 9; or, in the application to piston slide valves, the slide 5 engages directly between stops 8, 8<1> provided on the stem of the valve, without the interposition of springs.
