Abstract
17,824. Clifford, C. Aug. 16. Folding b o x e s of cardboard, leatherboard, &c. have rectangular bodies with two creased sides, and bottoms hinged to one of the uncreased sides. The sides b, Fig. 2, made of two overlapping parts secured by staples or rivets g, are creased at c and strengthened by inside flaps on the top edges. The bottom d has flaps e,f, the flaps f fitting between the overlapping parts of the sides in the made-up box as shown in Fig. 1. The flap e fits inside the body of the box, and a spring tongue h on either of the flaps fits into a socket in the side. The collapsable lid may be either hinged to the body or separate, and is secured by cords i, connected to the sides b on either side of the crease c and tied on the top of the lid. In a modification, the flap e is folded against the outside of the box body.
