Abstract

15,879. Allgemeine Elektricitõts - Ges. July 17, A.D. 1903, [date applied for under Patents Act, A.D. 1901]. Energy meters.- A n induction motor meter for a single alternating current h a s a conductive d i s c g, Fig. 2, revolving below a pole-piece H and above a pole-piece N, which project laterally from the ends of a laminated iron core c so that they do not face each other. The core c carries a highlyinductive pressure coil f and a main-current coil e, co-operating to produce a magnetic flux, partly through the air gap, and partly through a vertical laminated iron plate a. With this arrangement, the torque may be made nearly constant while the main current varies considerably. In a modified arrangement, Fig. 3, the disc g revolves through air gaps between the ends of a core c and a stationary iron armature s ; the core c carries pressure coils only, the main-current coil being wound on the armature s, and the two air gaps are magnetically short-circuited by pieces of iron a. In another modification, the pieces a, Fig. 3, are omitted, and a limited number of straight iron laminµ are placed between the poles of the core c ; the pressure and main-current coils are wound on the limbs of the core c.
