Abstract

Energy meters.-An induction motor meter for a single alternating current has a rotary metal disc E on a spindle S, at one side of which are two stationary laminated electromagnets B, B' ; these are connected in series with additional inductances D between the mains, so that a single magnetic circuit is formed through the two electromagnets, and the current in these lags about 90‹. Between the limbs of the magnets are co-operating coils A, A', which are connected in series with one main, and may have iron cores. At the opposite side of tha spindle the disc is acted on by a permanent brake magnet C. The upper pair of shunt coils B and the intervening series coil A may be omitted, the iron core L being left to complete the magnetic circuit of the lower electromagnet B'. One electromagnet, or the iron core, may be displaced relatively to the other electromagnet to 123 compensate for friction, and the disc E is provided with a notch to ensure its stoppage when the main current is stopped.
