Energy meters.-In an induction motor meter, a conductive disc e turns between electromagnets f a, respectively provided with main-current and pressure coils, narrow gaps separating the poles of each magnet being situated opposite the pole surfaces of the other magnet. A sufficient turning movement is thus obtained, although the magnetic flux of the pressure magnet a passes mainly between its own poles, which arrangement produces the necessary phase shift of the current in the pressure coil b, without use of a separate inductance coil. The pressure magnet consists of an iron core a, surrounded by the pressure coil b, and having side pieces c<1>, c' applied to it so as to leave narrow gaps near the disc e. In the form shown, the maincurrent electromagnet f<1> consists of four bars, to which a yoke may be applied, the inner cores being oppositely wound ; one of the wound cores may be dispensed with ; or a two-pole magnet may be used, wound on the yoke. Permanent magnets are used to retard the disc e.
