Abstract

12,336. British Thomson-Houston Co., [Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.]. May 31. Energy meters.-Induction motor meters are provided with closed iron circuits through which pass the greater part of the magnetic fluxes produced by the pressure coils of the meters, so that separate reactances in series with the pressure coils, to give retardation of phase of the magnetic field, are not required. Fig. 1 shows the invention applied to the three-legged core k of the meter described in Specification No. 683, A.D. 1900 ; the outer ends a, b of this core are connected by laminated or cast-iron extensions f to the cast-iron base e of the meter, this providing the desired closed magnetic path. Otherwise, the extensions f of the ends a, b may be connected together by the fixed armature bar d, or by a laminated iron yoke. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which each outer limb of the core k has a separate magnetic shunt h.
