Abstract

25,567. Morck, E. Nov. 23. Energy meters.-Relates to means for obtaining a quadrature relation of phases in alternating- current meters on Ferraris' principle. The magnetic fluxes produced by the pressure and main current coils are either or both divided into components in such manner as to obtain two fluxes in quadrature. Figs. 4 and 9 show one construction, in which the pressure coil b and main current coil m are arranged to act on an armature a. The iron of the pressure coil b consists of a part c, d, e, a piece g, and an adjustable part h. The flux in the part d divides between the branches as indicated in Fig. 3, in which O E represents the electric pressure and N the magnetic flux which is divided into the branches N<1>, N<2>. The flux H of the main current coil m is divided into the components H<1>, H<2>, the component H<1> being at right-angles to the component N<1>. Adjustment is obtained by means of the movable parts h, r. The arrangements of the iron parts may be modified ; e.g., in Fig. 8 one component of the flux passes through air between poles l, k, and the other through the armature. Portions of the branches may be made solid, or shortcircuited windings may be placed on the branches.
