15,497. Stewart, A. July 12. Blast apparatus. -Fee d water is passed through pipes within the interior of the blast pipe of a boiler of the locomotive type. In Figs. 1 and 2, showing the arrangement f o r engines with inside cylinders, the blast pipe C is fitted with casings A, B and tube-plates D. The feedwater is carried to the casing A through the smokebox to the pipes E as shown, returning to the generator by the casing B. Fig. 3 shows the arrangement as adapted to the boilers of engines with outside cylinders. In the Provisional Specification, a further modification is described, in which the tubes are placed horizontally in a chamber near the upper end of the blast pipe and extend across the smoke-box, a dashplate being employed to distribute the steam among the pipes.
