Calculating - apparatus. -In a surveying or like instrument, in which a telescope 3 is used in the measurement of distances and angles, an indicating- pointer 24 moves over a chart 26 having three sets of lines to indicate respectively the distances read on a distant staff, the distances corrected for the inclination of the telescope, and the corresponding altitudes. The inclination of the telescope is read along the outer edge of the chart.
