103,706. Phillips, R. W. L. Feb. 16, 1916. Angle-measuring instruments.-An instrument for determining or checking right-angles comprises two pointed arms a, b secured together, and a third pointed arm c pivoted on an axis g which cuts the line between the points of the arms a, b, the points of all the arms being, equidistant from the pivot axis so that the angle between lines from the point of the arm c to the points of the arms a, b is a right-angle; the instrument may also he used in conjunction with a protractor or a scale of trigonometrical functions, such as cosines, for measuring other angles. The points may be adjustable by a micrometric or like device, and a sight-hole n in the arm c and centre-lines on the arms may be provided to enable the accuracy of the instrument to be tested. A separate protractor, or a protractor o secured to the instrument and read through a sight-hole p, may be provided to set. the arm c at any desired angle to the arm a or b. A scale r of cosines &c. may be used, so that any angle or the angle similarly formed at the point of the arm a may be measured or set out.
