Abstract

8702. Tallack, H. T. April 7. Sighting-levels; theodolites. -Relates chiefly to the combination of the gradient arrangement described in Specification 6229/95 with a telescope mounted on a vertical axis as described in Specification 2375/64. The telescope is mounted on a vertical axis on a stage C carried on the gradient arrangement, which is mounted on a second stage B rigidly fitted to the cover-plate of an ordinary theodolite. On the telescope is fitted a vernier E reading off on a graduated circle D fitted on the stage C. In this way, by rotating the telescope over the circle, a very fine reading of a grade can be obtained.
