Incandescent gas lamps ; globes; globe holders. - The metal mixing-tube b, Fig. 1, of an inverted lamp is lined or surrounded by a loose porcelain tube b<1> to prevent overheating, and d a porcelain dome e diverts the waste gases into the openings between the arms f of the globe or shade holder, the sides of each arm f being turned upwards to form channels for conveying the air supply to the air-inlets g. These channels may be lined with asbestos &c. Instead of being open at the bottom, the globe or shade d has openings i arranged so as to deflect the incoming air against the inner side of the shade. The mantle is supported from wires m held together by a ring r and provided with button-headed or hooked ends, which are passed respectively through slots p, Fig. 3, or notches, Fig. 5, in a flange k at the top of the mantle, and are locked by turning the mantle.
