Abstract

2007. Soc. Anon. des Moteurs et Automobiles "Herald." July 6, AD. 1903, [date applied for under Patents Act, A.D. 1901]. Gas and like engines, governing in. The governing apparatus described in Specification No. 17,803, A.D. 1903, is modified by forming notches in the piston regulating valve, so that a certain amount of explosive mixture is admitted to the cylinder after the passage for supplying air only to the cylinder has been opened. The explosive mixture passes from a pipe 18 into an annular chamber 21 and through the interior of the piston valve 16 to the breeches pipe 22, which leads to the admission valves. When the valve 16 is moved to the left, its edge enters an annular recess 25 in the casing, and so partially cuts off the supply of explosive mixture, a small quantity of which, however, passes through notches 24 in the edge cf the valve. The valve at the same time makes communication between an air supply pipe 23 and the breeches pipe 22 through an annular chamber 17.
