Abstract

190,364. Donkers, L. B. Dec. 20, 1921. Batch-mixers with circulating devices.-A kneading- machine for butter, margarine &c. comprises one or two pairs of kneading rollers between which the butter is passed as many times as desired by means of two screw conveyers. The kneading rollers 6 are mounted in bearings in a frame 1 and discharge into a trough 20 in which works a, screw 19. The butter &c. drops into a second trough 24 fitted with a screw 28 and provided with pivoted flap 48 normally held in a raised position to allow the material to pass again through the rollers. When the flap is lowered, as shown, the material is discharged from the machine. The material may be discharged at the top of the first trough by closing the connecting trough 23 by means of a sliding shutter, the material then being extended through a nozzle at 22. In a modification, a second pair of kneading rollers is placed between the first and second elevators at the other end of the machine and the material may be discharged through nozzles at the ends of either trough.
