Abstract

358,206. Hoists with guided skips. WALTER, B., 20, Duppelstrasse, Gleiwitz, Germany. Aug. 20, 1930, No. 24891. Convention date, Aug. 20, 1929. [Classes 78 (iii) and 78 (iv).] The bottom of an elevator bucket 1 is made in two or more hingedly connected parts 6, 7, 10, which enclose angles equal to or less than 90‹, one of the parts 10 being capable of rolling on a roller 14 mounted in a suspension frame 2. In one form, the bucket 1 is rigidly mounted in the frame 2 which is guided in the elevator frame by shoes 3. The parts 6, 7 are hingedly connected to the bucket sides and either of the pivots between the posts 6, 10 and 7, 10 may be removed in order that the bucket may be capable of discharging its contents to either side. Rollers 17 which engage channel guides 18, 19 at the discharge site are provided on the lower corners of the parts 6, 7. The guides have hinged portions 20, 21; thus, when the bucket arrives at the discharge site, the right-hand rollers 17 engage the guide 19 and cause the part 10 to roll on roller 14, the other rollers 17 passing freely through the guide 18. The parts 6, 7, 10 have lateral cheeks and the guides restore the bottom to its initial position during the return travel. Locking devices are provided between the parts 6, 10 and 10, 7 and in some cases one of these devices is replaced by a stop rigidly connected to the bucket. The bucket may be constructed to discharge at one side only, and mechanical means, such as a rack and motor driven pinion, may replace the roller 14.
