Abstract

Windscreens.-Relates to windscreens for the rear seats of motor and like vehicles of the type which are supported by means of a pair of horizontally-extending two-part folding arms 1, 1<1> arranged on the back of the front seats so that the screen can be adjusted towards or away from the occupants, and in which the screen is prevented from falling downwards under its own weight when brought to the forward position with the supporting-arms in alignment. The rear jointed member 1<1> of the folding arm at each side of the vehicle consists of two relativelyrotatable but non-slidable parts 9, 10, the forward part 9 being hinged to the front jointed member 1, while the rear part 10 is cranked upwardly at 12 to form a vertical post on which the side standard 13 of the screen 6 is swivelly mounted. The rear end of the part 9 is preferably split longitudinally at 17, Fig. 2, and the branches adapted to be pressed apart by a screwpin 18 to expand them into frictional engagement with the part 10. The screw-pin 18 passes through a semi-circumferential slot 19 in the part 10, thus preventing relative axial displacement of the two parts 9, 10, but allowing the part 10 to rotate on the part 9 against the clamping friction when the screen is brought to its forward position and then folded down. The cranked portion 12 of the member 1<1> has a shoulder 15 abutting against the lower end of the standard 13 and is provided with an annular recess 16 engaged by a screw 14 passing through the standard so as to prevent vertical displacement of the screen 6.
