Abstract

221,326. Auster, Ltd., and Inshaw, J. W. Aug. 1, 1923. Weather-screens.-A wind-screen 1 for motorcycles is mounted on the handle-bar by jointed arms 8, 9, so that its height may be adjusted by angular adjustment of the arms, which are then locked in position by wing-nuts &c. The screen proper is angularly adjustable by means of trunnions 3 mounted in split eyes 4 having clamping-screws 6, and the forward or rearward inclination of the arms 8, 9 is also adjustable by means of joints between members 19 and lugs 14 on handle-bar clips 15. The members 19 turn on pins 16, and the engaging faces of the members 19, 14 are formed with rounded teeth 17, which are pressed together by a spring 20 to produce a frictional joint, capable of yielding should the rider be thrown forward against the screen. An apron 25 may be attached to a rod 24 passing around, and attached to, the front of the screen. The arms 8, 9 may alternatively fold in planes parallel to that of the machine. The members 14 may be connected to the clips 15 by vertical swivels to facilitate attachment to handle-bars of different inclinations.
