Loom shuttle boxes; swells.-Relates to shuttle boxes of loose-reed looms, and has for its object to ensure the shuttle leaving the boxes in true alignment with the face of the reed. The back b of the shuttle box is made of wood or metal, or both combined, and to it is secured a bracket h pivoted by a stud i to a bracket j bolted to the lower portion of the lay a. The back is thus free to turn if a shuttle is caught between the front end of the shuttle box and the reed, and the back b is held parallel with the reed by a spring l. The swell f is pivoted to the bracket h, and is held to its work by a spring g, and the weft-fork grid c is secured to the back b.
