Abstract
22,773. Pollock, W., and Ling, E. S. Oct. 27. Loom stop-motions.-In a gauze or like loom in which two weft threads are laid simultaneously in each shed, the weft threads are alternately prevented from acting upon the weft fork during successive picks. When the shuttle A', Figs. 1 and 2, comes opposite the weft fork A, which is arranged at the centre of the lay, a cam-actuated spring-controlled rod C is raised in a slot C<1> in the lay-board C<2> and is caused to project between the two threads A<2>, A<3> laid by the shuttle. When the shuttle has travelled past the weft fork, the rod C is drawn backwards in the slot C<1>, against the action of a spring E<3>, by a cord &c. G<1> attached to a cam-actuated lever, thus drawing the rear thread A' away from the weft fork. During the return pick, the thread A<3> lies behind the thread A' and is similarly drawn away from the weft fork.
