5232. Rushton, J. L. March 3 Carding - engines. - The object is to facilitate the adjustment of the doffer and lickerin and their connections relatively with the m a i n cylinder. The doffer pedestals g, the framing h, cover h<1>, doffing-comb i, and carriers or brackets j on which is mounted the gearing for driving the calender rollers k from the doffer wheel b<1>, are all mounted adjustably or otherwise on a frame e, which can be adjusted on the side framing d of the carding - -engine by means of screws and nuts f. The wheel n of the gearing for driving the calender rollers is carried by a bracket m, which is pivoted at l so that the wheel can be brought into proper engagement with the doffer wheel b<1> after adjustment. The parts s, q of the cylinder cover are fitted to slide on the top flange of the framing d, and are adjusted by means of the screws and nuts r, s<1>. Part of the undercasing is also connected with the parts s, q of the cover. Upon a sliding frame similar to e are also mounted, adjustably or otherwise, the licker-in pedestals, the feed and laproller pedestals and carrier, the feed plate, the licker-in casing and cover, the back part of the cylinder undercasing, the mote-knife brackets, and the cylinder back knife.
