Incandescent gas lamps.-The draught is increased by arranging over each burner in the lamp or lantern a flue C and a cowl C', to form a continuation of the ordinary transparent chimney D. By means of the elongated air-supply inlets f and the bell H, the air supply, on entering the mixing-tube F, is constrained to move in the same direction as the gas supply entering the tube through the nozzle s, and the air-supply inlets f can be more or less closed by the sleeve G. The size of the flame is increased bv the use of a hemispherical or convex burner head K, and the resistance to the flow of the air and gas is minimized by mounting the socket I for the mantle rod upon a single-cross J, which presents a single thin edge only to the ascending gases.
