Sewage, treating; filtering.-Relates to filters for sewage and other liquids, and consists in creating a vacuum within the filter whereby its action is facilitated and the sludge is compressed. This is effected by means of domes d placed at the bottom of the filter bed and connected with an air pump by a pipe X fitted with branches E passing up into the domes. The outflow pipes from the filter are bent to form traps, which prevent access of air.
