25,897. Doulton, H. L., and Pleace, R. J. Nov. 25. Sewage and foul waters, treating; bacteriological processes; filtering.-For the purpose of regulating the flow of liquid from one bacteria bed to another, a pipe A, with upturned ends situated within bells F, G, is arranged between the two chambers B, C. As the liquid rises in the chamber B, it overflows into the chamber C, either intermittently or continuously according to the position of the bells F, G, which may be vertically adjustable. When the liquid attains a certain height in the chamber C, a siphon M commences to discharge that chamber. A second siphon 0 in the chamber B is then started into action by suction, created by the discharge of the first siphon, acting through the connecting-pipe P.
