Abstract

11,900. Bordigoni, V. May 25. Sewage and excremental matters, treating ; bacteriological processes.-A septic tank for the continuous treatment of foecal matter or sewage is constructed of a series of compartments, the whole being hermetically closed. From the fermenting- tank 3, sewage passes up through louvres 10 into the compartment 4, where it undergoes a second fermentation and then by the pipe 11 into a smaller compartment 5. Here the sewage is liquefied by the action of anaÙrobic bacteria. It then passes through holes 13 in the partition 12 to another compartment, which is filled to the level of the line 14 with filtering-media, the purified liquid passing out by the pipe 16. To facilitate the charging and discharging of the media, the filtering-chamber is covered airtight with a detachable slab or board.
