Sewage, treating; bacteriological processes; filtering.-Relates to apparatus for the automatic and intermittent distribution of sewage evenly over bacteria beds or filters. A tank A, which receives sewage by a pipe N and is mounted over the filter bed B, is provided with radiating-pipes J suitably mounted at i and perforated in such a manner as to distribute the sewage over the whole area of the filter. The tank is provided also with a siphon consisting of a plate F supporting a pipe G, which is covered by a cap H and dips into a depression C in the bottom of the tank forming a water seal for it. When the sewage covers the cap, the siphon discharges the liquid until the level falls below an air pipe L, which suspends its action. A cock E and caps K on the pipes J are provided for cleaning purposes.
