15,032. Ritter, A. Aug. 22. Beverages, raising and drawing-off.- Relates to apparatus for raising beverages by means of gas under pressure. Between the vessel containing the beverage and the delivery cock is placed a receiver k, which is filled by h y d r o s t a t i c pressure and emptied by g a s pressure. F i g. 4 shows a cross-section of the delivery cock, which is combined with valves controlling the supply of gas to the receiver. Gas from some source of pressure is supplied by a pipe n to one side of the valve e, and the space b on the other side of the valve is in communication through a pipe m with the receiver, which also communicates with the vessel to be emptied through a pipe provided with a non-return valve o. When liquid is to be drawn off, the plug of the delivery cock is placed in the position shown in Fig. 4, in which the port q registers with the pipe p. The valve e is raised so that gas under pressure is supplied by the pipes m and n to the receiver. After the receiver has been emptied, the plug of the delivery cock is rotated so that the valve e is closed and f opened. The gas in the receiver escapes through the valve f and the silencer v, and liquid fills the receiver through the valve o. Fig. 7 shows another form of cock, in which the gascontrolling valves are arranged tandem-wise, and are actuated by a cam on the plug.. As shown, the valve e<1> is open to allow gas to pass from the pipe n to the pipe m and receiver, while the valve f<1> is closed against an india-rubber diaphragm f<3>. When the receiver is to be re-filled, the cam is rotated to allow the valve e<1> to close and the valve f<1> to open.
