Abstract

8115. Bennett, B. May 2. Caps ; felt hats helmets; leathers or sweat bands.; linings; ventilating.-Relates to the ventilation of ba.ts, caps, helmets, and other head coverings. Fig. 3 shows a vertical section of a cap, which in wear would have the front part a<1> hooked down on to the peak. Holes c are made through the upper part of the peak b, and holes d, d<1> are made through the part a<1>, so that a current of air continually flows through the holes c, d, d'. The front part of the sweat band e is made with an inward curve to provide an air space, and is also provided with perforations f. The inside of the peak is lined with cork, flannel, or the like. In place of pidding the inside of the crown of the cap, the back portion only of the cap is lined with open woven material g, that may be covered with silk, and the front portion is lined with woven haircloth j. Fig. 6 shows the invention applied to a felt hat.
