Abstract
4181. Eckley, H. A., and Frankham, J. March 5. Hinges. -Relates to an adjustable hinge for gates, which may also be used for barn doors and the like. The part of the hinge which is clamped on the bottom of the gate post is made in two pieces A and D. The jaws J which clamp the gate post can be adjusted at any required distance, by sliding the transverse pieces E and G and clamping them together when adjusted by the bolt H. The jaws J have slotted bolt-holes, to allow the gate &c. to be raised when it has dropped. The bolt H passes through the slots in the jaws J and the gate post. The upper hinge may also be made adjustable, though that is not usually necessary.
