Hinges readily separable about pin. - Relates to hinges for doors, gates, &c., and particularly for heavy doors, such as those for refrigerating - chambers, of the type in which the pivot pins are adjustable in order to compensate for sagging of the doors &c., and consists in providing means whereby the pivot pin may be adjusted in both the vertical and horizontal direction. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the pivot pin f is provided with a s c r e w e d extension e passing freely through a slipper block c, which can slide in guides a<1> in a bracket a fixed to the door post under the action of a screw i. The hinge flap is mounted on the pivot f, and rests on ball bearings m. The pivot pin is supported by a nut g upon the screwed extension e, and is adjusted vertically by turning the screw e by its squared end c<2> and holding the nut g stationary, or vice versa. A lock-nut h is provided as shown. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the hinge flap is mounted on a sleeve s threaded on the screw r, which is mounted in slots q<1>, q<2> in a bracket a, and supported by a nut g and collar r'. The vertical adjustment is obtained by turning the screw r as before. The horizontal adjustment is effected by means of a screw i threaded through a collar s<1> on the sleeve s, and passing through a slot q<3> in the bracket a. In a further modification, shown in Fig. 6, the block c is additionally supported by bolts u having T-heads sliding in corresponding guides in the back of the bracket a. In a further modification, shown in Fig. 8, the block c-is supported wholly by the T-headed screws, and is adjusted horizontally by means of a pair of screws i screwed through side cheeks a<2> and bearing against the sides of the block c.
