Abstract

13,019. Stevenson, R. June 3. Operating swinging doors.-Relates to doorclosing apparatus of the kind in which a roller or pulley carried by a bracket on the door travels along an upwardly inclined race concentric with the door hinges, thereby lifting the door as it is opened, the weight of the door effecting the closing movement. The race A, of round or other section, is arranged at the top of the door and provided with end plates A, A<2> for connexion to the door frame. The plate A' has a quadrantal slot a', which receives a screwed stud c projecting from a plate C attached to the door frame. Upon the screw C and behind the plate A' may be placed a nut, between which and a fly-nut c' the plate A' is secured. The plate A<2> is provided with a hole or slot to receive a screw stud b projecting from a plate B'. The roller d' is carried by a swivelling bracket d mounted upon a bracket D on the door. The door is mounted on sliding hinges to enable it to rise. A twin race may be employed, the bracket carrying the roller being between the members of the race. When applied to a door mounted under a casement, this is recessed to allow the door to rise after being partly opened, and the race is horizontal until the top of the door is opposite to the recessed portion of the casement.
