Chain gearing; c h a i n-wheels.-The chain-wheels on the crank-axle and hub of a cycle are each formed with two sets of teeth, arranged to give two speeds, and so that the same chain may be used for either pair. Fig. 2 shows a section of the chain-wheel b on the crank-axle a, the second ring of teeth e being fixed in a recess c by bolts f. In the case of the chainwheel on the hub g, Fig. 3, the second ring m screws on the chain wheel h, and is fixed by a nut n.
