Abstract

23,142. Whimster, T., and Whimster, T. W. Nov. 21. Tidal energy, utilizing.-During the time between half-flow and half-ebb tide, water runs into the reservoir d, and from half-ebb to half-flow water runs out of the reservoir h, in each case driving water-wheels c, k from which power may be taken direct. Or pumps d are used to lift water direct to a water-wheel n, or to a high-level reservoir g. The reservoir h is filled at full tide through a sluice h<1>, and the reservoir a is emptied at low tide by a sluice b. The water is supplied to the water-wheels c, k through a number of openings and sluices such as m, which are opened according to the height of the water. A low wall e retains a supply of water for the pumps in the reservoir a when the sluice b is opened.
