189,909. Enock & Co., Ltd., A. G., and Enock, A. G. Sept. 22, 1921. Sterilizing milk.-Milk is pasteurized by maintaining it at constant temperature of about 145‹ F. by passing it through a series of closed vessels A< >6 - - A<10>, the inlet pipe extending to the bottom of the first vessel, and each vessel having an overflow pipe D<7>, D<8>, D<9> extending to the bottom of the succeeding vessel, the overflow D<10> of the last vessel being connected to the outlet pipe E. The vessels are mounted in a casing B insulated by cork or asbestos b and heated below by a coil G to maintain the milk at its initial temperature. The pipes D', &c. are fitted with vents d<1> and fit removably into the connections d between adjacent vessels. An outlet pipe f is fitted to empty each vessel, provided with a valve f<1> operated by a handle f<3>. A foot-plate H is hinged to each side to facilitate access to the apparatus.
