Feeding opener &c.-The material is blown or drawn along a pipe b<4> to a pair of perforated drums b<5>, and fed by them to a pair of calender rollers c and thence between a pair of travelling and swing- ing aprons e, e<1>, which lay the fibre in even folds on to the feed-apron a<1> of a cop-bottom breaking- machine &c. The rollers which carry the aprons e, e' are connected to swinging arms f, which are reciprocated by reason of a projection on a travelling apron g<1> engaging with a slot g<3> in the prolongation of one of the arms. A bladed roller is used for forcing the material on the apron a<1> towards the feed-rollers of the machine. b<3> is an escape pipe for waste, air, dust, &c.
