Abstract

2993. Tordoff, W. Feb. 5. Water-waste preventers, valve-discharge. The float-arm D, which passes through a slot at the top of the valve spindle H, is connected by links L and K to a rocking shaft F carrying a tumbler E. The cistern is normally empty. When the pull-chain is operated, the tumbler E falls over to the right, thus closing the valve G and allowing the float-arm to fall and open the inlet. The cistern fills until the float in rising tilts the tumbler to the left, thus closing the inlet and opening the valve G to deliver the flush. The shaft F is also connected by an arm T and link S to a small tipping-basin N, which in the position shown discharges any leakage directly into the overflow pipe R.
