Abstract

24,929. Br³njes, F. Oct. 29. Valve-discharge water-waste preventers; protecting from frost.-In a series of cisterns, small variations in level occur whenever any cistern is emptied; or a continuous circulation is maintained. Cistern 1 is connected by pipes 10, 11, and 14 with the water supply, the next cistern 2, and the last cistern, respectively. The valve 5 of the cistern 1 is shown open in Fig. 2. When the valve handle is turned through 90 degrees, the flush is cut off, and water from the pipe 10 passes into the cisterns in turn. When any cistern is discharged, it is replenished from all the higher cisterns. If the cock 15 in the pipe 14 is open, a continuous circulation takes place. The cisterns are air-tight, and are filled against air-pressure.
