17,130. Carney, B. M. July 20. Water-waste preventers, siphon-discharge. The siphon 2, which may be made integrally with the tank, is fitted with an opening in its crown closed during action by a ball valve 16 on the end of an arm 14 fixed to a cross and crank bar 9 which bears upon the float arm 6 of the inlet cock 5. The pullchain, which is fixed to the outer end of the arm 14, when operated pulls the parts into the positions shown in full lines. The valve 16 thus closes and the cock 5 opens, and in this way the flush is started. When the chain is released the ball 16 rises, thus admitting air to break the siphonic action, and at the same time the float arm is released and thus allowed to rise with the water level. In a modification, an after-flush arrangement is combined with the main siphon.
