20,646. Shanks, J. Sept. 26. Water - waste preventers, siphon and valve discharge. Waste owing to imperfect action of the discharge mechanism is prevented by bifurcating the inlet R, one branch being led to an internal vessel J. Fig. 1 shows the device applied to a siphon-discharge cistern. If the valve K by which the siphon is started does not fall properly on to its seating, only the water in the vessel J will run to waste and the supply cock will be shut off when the main tank has filled. A valve-discharge cistern is formed with an internal vessel J, Fig. 2, in which the float is situated, so that the supply will be cut off when this vessel is full. A siphon C is provided to empty the vessel during discharge of the main tank.
