Abstract

Valve - discharge water - waste preventers.- When the handle 12, Fig. 1, is raised, a ball 1 is knocked into a recess 13 by the impact of a lever 6. The water in the tank 22 and flushpipe 5 thereupon escapes. In its passage, it strikes a vane 9 attached to an arm 11, which keeps the ball aside during the flush. When the handle is raised, a cam 20 on the spindle 7 causes a valve 15 to rise and thereby uncover the orifice of a passage 14, through which water from the pipe 5 then passes. This flow facilitates the passage of the ball into the recess. The cistern 22, Fig. 4, is closed air-tight when an aperture 25 is closed by a float valve 26. The top of the pipe 5 is provided with a cap 27 perforated with holes 31. At the end of a flush, noise is prevented by the lowering of the cap by means of a float 30 and levers.
